Litha / Midsummer
Summer Solstice (also known as Litha or midsummer) is the longest day of the year! This is our midpoint where the days have grown long and we have welcomed the warming sun. We can take a moment to pause, take stock of all of the hard work and effort we have put in and take a little break.
This is a beautiful time to gather in ritual with others to honour ourselves and our community! May we refect on our blessings, give thanks to what we have received and call in the healing and messages we need
Many ancient traditions would gather to celebrate and honour this passage, this portal. The rituals could look different depending on the culture. Some would honour the Sun at high noon and worship and create mandalas and altars. Most of the ancient temples in the world were aligned with the sun so that the sun would shine through an amazingly crafted window or portal and shine on an altar or sacred space- like those in Egypt or Central America (the Mayan temples).
☀️I offer you the sacred practice of going and worshiping the sun in your own way. Whether it be to bathe your skin nude under it’s rays, burn your worries from the last year in fire, write down your wishes on flower petals and send them down a river, or create a sacred mandala in the earth to honour the sun, there are many ways to worship! ☀️
Some wonderful journal prompts include:
Start with two pieces of paper. You could also use bay leaves or rose petals to either burn or plant or send down a river.
~On one, write out all of the things in the past year that have been beautiful blessings.
~On the other, write out all of things that were challenges.
Honour the challenges, thank them for their lessons and then burn them!!
Then thank all of your blessings and ask for even more! You can plant these in the dirt, send them down a river or keep it somewhere special.
Split a page into three parts.
In one column you write : what I want is.
In the next : what I really want is.
And the last : what I truly want is.
Each column expands on the idea of the last one each time. You might find you end up with one word, or similar words in the last column. (Mine is usually peace <3)
Finally, knowing what you truly want now, you can create a Mojo Bag!
A Mojo Bag is a tiny pouch of magical items that represent what you would like to manifest.
Now, be careful what you wish for!! I've done this before, and all of my wishes have come true. So be very clear and direct, and leave a little wiggle room if you need.
For the Mojo Bag you will need:
Then, cut your pouch to size, place all of your items inside, anoint it with oil if you wish, then sew it up, sealing it shut and tying a string or ribbon around the pouch so that it can hang around your neck.
The magickal part about this process is is to carry the mojo bag around your neck - hidden - so no one else can see - until it naturally falls off. You can sleep with it off or near your pillow.
Remember to wait and be patient... I didn't know all of my wishes had come true until about 6 months after the process and I had even forgotten about all of it... but magick does work! That's why I say be very clear about what you are intending!!
I wish you well and I would love to hear about your journey!!
Sending you much love and blessings.
